TV Playout on The Cloud
An International, Multipart Ecosystem Live TV Distribution Leveraging Cloud Computing.

The purpose of this project was to leverage cloud innovative cost models to allow for business models flexibility on playout operations. As the dynamics of content consumption shifts, traditional playout infrastructures became extremely expensive and not flexible at all to support eventual channels and campaigns.

A highly distributed and complex global cloud-based system dispersed in 4 data centers across US and Europe, 3 broadcast solutions vendors, 4 IBM business units and 1 integration partner, I led the design, implementation, and 2 weeks shadow operations for 2 prerecorded and 1 live channel.

I was also responsible for translating to IBM business units the media and entertainment business requirements and constraints to put together a financial proposition.

Cloud networks complexity required a thorough research for available service providers capabilities across many geographies to make sure each target client head end would be able to properly receive the signal.

Providing fault tolerance capability so the live linear channel wouldn't stop required a combination of a variety of cloud network and media solutions providers technology properly aligned on a complex scheme of signal flows.

The challenge of orchestrating a 7 organizations multipart ecosystem required carefully separation of responsibilities, scope and expected outcomes definitions.
